Guest scores and detailed hotel feedback
Staying at this hotel was a mixed experience. The rooms were a bit claustrophobic with old furniture, reminiscent of university dorms, and in need of some TLC on the paintwork. However, the service was friendly and helpful, going above and beyond to ensure our comfort. The location was excellent, just a short walk from the city center. The dining experience had its ups and downs, with some dishes being late and not up to par, but overall enjoyable. The facilities met our needs adequately.
I had a mixed experience at this hotel. The rooms, with old furniture and dodgy beds, had an excellent view over Edinburgh Castle, making it a perfect base for sightseeing. However, the rooms were quite shabby with mismatched furniture and could do with redecorating.
My stay was absolutely delightful. The breakfast team made sure everything was just perfect, offering a beautiful and tasty breakfast with plenty of options. The panoramic view from my room in the rafters was breathtaking, despite the basic ambiance. Overall, the service was top-notch!
I was fortunate to receive a free upgrade to a room with a large bathroom and a fabulous view from the window, even though I was on the basement floor. The hotel offers very nice views over Dean Village and beyond, creating a lovely atmosphere. However, the limited room experience leaves me uncertain about the usual accommodations for two.
The hotel had a beautiful building with ornate fireplaces but the rooms were very basic with no balance in the bed and lacked essentials like curtains, giving a cheap and disappointing feel. Despite the letdown in room quality, the staff were helpful, and the central location provided a fantastic view over Dean Village towards the Firth of Forth. The dining experience was satisfying overall, although there were some issues with service during busy times.
The hotel has a wonderful Victorian style with spacious and clean rooms. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The location is a fantastic introduction to Edinburgh, close to Princess Street and various amenities. The dining experience offers a good variety with one minor issue of waiting for a table one morning. Overall, a delightful stay with great value for money.
